THE TRUTH BEHIND THE PSEUDO-GOSPEL OF JUDAS

<<Behold, this [child] is set for the fall and rising again of many; and for a sign which shall be spoken against>> (Luke 2:34-35)

INTRODUCTION

It was not so long ago that the first effects of John Paul II's inauguration of the New Age Religion in Assisi, Italy, in 1986 started to make themselves felt.

The international press published last January a number of articles on the subject of the reinstatement of Judas. Of course, the Vatican's rationale to "uncharge" Judas of his crimes is childish and proves how much Western "theology" has become alienated from patristic hermeneutics.

"Judas' re-instatement", so the papist historians and all the others behind this movement tell us, must be done because Judas played his role in the realisation of the divine plan for the salvation of man through Christ's resurrection. And they ask: "If it weren't for Judas, how could Christ get crucified?"

What they do not understand, or do not want to understand, is that our actions are surveyed mainly based upon our own intent and purpose. Nero also became cause for the sanctification of thousands or even millions of Christians through martyrdom. This however does not mean that we are going to proclaim Nero as a saint just because he contributed to the sanctification of martyrs. The devil too helps us become sanctified by his evilness. His purpose however is not to help us be sanctified but to destroy us.

But the Vatican's motive behind the "acquittal" or even the sanctification (!) of Judas is different. As we read, it is the betterment of the relations of the Vatican with the Jews. The brains behind this also believe that the "acquittal" of Judas will be promoted best through the publication of the "Gospel according to Judas", a book they present as great, when in fact it is known by all historians to be fake (it had not been written by Judas) whereas the Church does not accept it; not even Papism accepts it. Everyone knows well that it is a pseudo-gospel, in other words a book written by someone claiming they were someone else. It voices the views of gnostics, heretics that fought the Ecclesia especially during the first centuries of Christianity.

In the end, always according to the publications in the media, we see the Vatican "backing off" (at least for now). It is the well-known method where one makes certain probing attacks, examines the reactions and initially seems to fall back before making a come-back later.

Of course, the Mass Media do not become pawns to anyone if there are no huge amounts of money involved. The main reason behind the advertising campaign of the pseudo-Gospel of Judas was that a lot had been invested in it. They needed to make their money back and an income!
